New Lower Textbook Prices at the UNM Bookstore
In an effort to support the University Administration's affordability initiatives, the main campus store has lowered the margin we take on textbooks for Fall 2017. This means almost all of our titles are retailing below the MSRP set by the publishers. Used prices have dropped. We rent as many titles as we can - as of today, 53% of our titles are rentable. We offer eBooks on as many titles as we can, too. Today, 41% of our titles are available digitally. Students asked if we could lower our textbook prices, and we listened.

Additionally, we offer our Inclusive Access program, where all students get access to digital course materials on the first day of class through UNM Blackboard, which means everyone has the right thing from the get-go and instructors can start teaching immediately. If students stay in the class and don't opt out, they're billed a specially negotiated low price, directly to their Bursar accounts. We will be presenting a workshop about Inclusive Access through a partnership with the Center for Teaching Excellence- the same people who are bringing you NFO- on October 3. If you're interested, look for information coming your way in the next few weeks. For more information on Inclusive Access, please contact Peg Lewis, Course Materials Division Manager, at 277-7478 or

The Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 mandates that Colleges and Universities post the price of course materials for students to see when they register, so students may make informed decisions about which class to take. This is one of the reasons why we ask the book adoptions be turned in prior to the opening of registration each semester. The University has designated the UNM Bookstores as the party responsible to post the course material information and maintain that database for our students, for our University to be compliant with HEOA. We need all faculty to help us in collecting this information. Even if students don't buy from us, we need to have the information to post online. To put in textbook adoptions, please contact Jonathan Benavides at 277-5412 or

The UNM Bookstores are truly your partners in education. We are here for you, for the students, for the administration and for our alums. We are a not-for-profit entity, meaning that all net revenue above operating expenses goes back to the university. Please let us know if we can assist you in any way.
